摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a positive electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery, capable of maintaining main characteristics of a secondary battery even at a high voltage; a method of manufacturing a positive electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery; a positive electrode for a lithium secondary battery; and a lithium secondary battery. <P>SOLUTION: A positive electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery according to the present invention includes: a core comprising a compound that can reversibly intercalate and deintercalate lithium; and a compound attached to the surface of the core and represented by the following chemical formula (1). In the following chemical formula (1), M(I) and M(II) are selected from the group consisting of Al, Zr, Hf, Ti, Ge, Sn, Cr, Nb, Ga, Fe, Sc, In, Y, La, Lu, and Mg, x satisfies 0<x&le;0.7 and y satisfies 0&le;y&le;1.
