摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide high purity LaB<SB POS="POST">6</SB>porous particles having a dendrite inhibiting effect when used as a negative electrode active material of a secondary battery, a method for producing the same, and a secondary battery negative electrode material using the LaB<SB POS="POST">6</SB>porous particles. <P>SOLUTION: The lanthanum hexaboride porous particles comprise a plurality of lanthanum hexaboride primary particles whose particle diameter is 10 nm to 10 &mu;m, wherein a content of impurities comprising at least one element selected from among La, C, O and B is &le;0.1 mass% (expressed in terms of carbon) and &le;1.0 mass% (expressed in terms of oxygen).
