1,081,625. Light - reflecting laminates. HOWARD CLAYTON WRIGHT Ltd. April 26, 1966 [April 29, 1965], No. 17989/65. Heading B5N. A light-reflective laminate comprises a metal foil sandwiched between layers of plastics material, the foil being formed with a plurality of concave pockets, the layer of plastics laying against the open sides of the pockets being transparent or translucent, and being formed so that its surface comprises a plurality of convex protuberances arranged so that, for at least some of these, each protuberance is aligned with a pocket in the foil. Preferably the pockets and protuberances are both of partspherical shape. Such a laminate is suitably produced by embossing a metal foil to provide a plurality of part-spherical pockets, covering the foil on each side with a layer of plastics material, e.g. in an extruder, and subsequently embossing a surface of the plastics material to provide part-spherical protuberances. The preferred plastics material is cellulose acetate butyrate.
