<p>A light emitting device comprises a sealed vessel (1), which is filled with a mixture gas consisting of inert gases and mercury vapor at a predetermined pressure, and two metal electrodes (2) are placed at two ends of the sealed vessel (1), respectively. The surfaces of the metal electrodes (2) are covered with a heat and electrical insulating layer, which has a heating hole. The metal electrodes (2) are exposed to the inert gases through the heating hole, and the inert gases around the heating hole are heated to form a corona zone, which is an ionized space with electrons and positive ions formed by the inert gases. The light emitting device uses the corona zone as an electron source of light emitting, so the power consumption of the light emitting device is effectively lowered, and the light emitting efficiency of the light emitting device is improved.</p> |
