<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of preventing pollution in a machine and the surrounding environment by capturing ultrafine particles generated from a rubber layer of a fixing member. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a cylindrical or annular fixing member 10; and a heating source for heating the fixing member 10 at a prescribed target temperature, and brings a conveyed sheet into pressure contact with an outer peripheral surface of the fixing member 10 to fix an image to the sheet. The fixing member 10 includes three layers: a cylindrical or annular base material 11; a rubber layer 12 having elasticity to secure the dimension of an area with which the sheet is brought into contact; and a surface layer 13 for assisting peeling of the sheet. In a width direction C perpendicular to a peripheral direction on the base material 11, each of an end part 12e of the rubber layer 12 and an end part 13e of the surface layer 13 is located inside an end part 11e on the base material 11. A filter member 14 capable of capturing ultrafine particles generated from the rubber layer 12 is provided at a position facing the end part 12e of the rubber layer 12 along the peripheral direction on the base material 11. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
