<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve display uniformity in a vertical orientation type liquid crystal display element. <P>SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display element includes: a pair of substrates oppositely arranged at a predetermined interval; a plurality of first electrodes formed like a strip on the opposite surface side of one of the pair of substrates; a plurality of second electrodes formed like a strip so as to cross the first electrodes, on the opposite surface side of the other of the pair of substrates; an oriented film formed on the opposite surface side of one of the pair of substrates or on the opposite surface sides of both of the pair of substrates and having orientation processing in a direction which is not orthogonal to the longitudinal directions of the second electrodes; a liquid crystal layer in a vertical orientation mode held between the pair of substrates and having a pretilt angle; and a pair of polarizing plates arranged across the pair of substrates. The first electrodes and the second electrodes cross each other to constitute a plurality of pixels, and a different orientation region where a central molecule of the liquid crystal layer is oriented in a direction different from an orientation direction prescribed by the orientation processing appears in the vicinity of the same pixel edge of adjacent pixels. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
