<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the friction of a slide bearing without sacrificing the conformability and load capacity. <P>SOLUTION: A slide bearing includes a bearing surface 1 having a center section and end sections. The center section and the end sections are each formed so as to have recesses and projections, and the average height of the apexes of the projections 1A in the center section is set lower than the average height of the apexes of the projections 1B in the end sections. In addition, the average height L<SB POS="POST">h</SB>of the recesses and projections 1A in the center section is set to be equal to the average height L<SB POS="POST">H</SB>of the recesses and projections 1B in the end sections.
