<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery showing excellent cycle life characteristics, and a lithium secondary battery containing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The negative electrode active material 10 contains a core 1 containing crystalline carbon, metal nanoparticles 3 and MO<SB POS="POST">x</SB>(x=0.5-1.5, and M=Si, Sn, In, or Al, or combinations of the elements) nanoparticles 5 at the surface of the core, and a coating layer 7 surrounding the surface of the core, and the metal nanoparticles and the MO<SB POS="POST">x</SB>nanoparticles and containing amorphous carbon. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
