<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To curb an adverse effect caused by clad mode light on an optical coupling technology capable of coupling laser beam traveling in space to an optical fiber. <P>SOLUTION: An optical coupling unit 100 on which a laser beam L traveling in space is incident from an end surface of one end side of an optical fiber 300 comprises: a unit body 110 in which the optical fiber 300 is disposed and which emits heat externally; a ferrule 130 which holds part of an exposure part without using members susceptible to heat deformation by clad mode light leaked from the optical fiber 300 and adjusts in advance the end surface of the one end side of the optical fiber 300 to a position on which the laser beam L is incident; a high refractive index member 120 which, embedded on a downstream side of the exposure part and attached firmly to the unit body 110, has a high refractive index as high as or higher than a clad 302 of the optical fiber 300. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
