The present invention provides an apparatus (101) for demonstration and determination of material dispersion in an optical fiber comprising a plurality of light sources (102 a, 102 b) for providing a plurality of signals in form of pulse trains (! 10 a, 110 b), a coupling device (103) for coupling the plurality of signals in form of pulse trains, a de-coupling device ( 105) for decoupling the plurality of signals, in form of pulse trains, a plurality of detection units (106 a, 106 b) for detection of the decoupled plurality of signals, in form of pulse trains, a device (107) for determining the time delay between arrival of plurality of signals form of pulse trains, at the detection unit ( 106 a, 106 b), a device for displaying the plurality of signals in form of pulse trains (107), a microprocessor (108) and a plurality of optical fiber patch cords for connecting various above devices, wherein a length of optical fiber (104 b) is provided whose material dispersion is to be demonstrated and determined. A method of demonstrating and determining material dispersion of optical fiber using said a apparatus (101) is also disclosed. |
