TOOL ROUTE GENERATING DEVICE, METHOD OF GENERATING TOOL ROUTE AND PROGRAM THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate a tool route with high machining efficiency regardless of the shape of machining area.

SOLUTION: A tool route generating device for generating a tool route for applying contour machining to a workpiece with rotary cutting tools, includes: a data input unit 101 for inputting data required for the generation of tool route; a machining condition setting unit 102 for setting a machining condition; and a tool route generating unit 106 for generating a tool route on the basis of the set machining condition, wherein the machining condition setting unit 102 includes: a machining cross-sectional area computing unit 103 for computing machining cross-sectional areas divided for each height when machining with the rotary cutting tools the areas to be machined along the tool route; a radial depth of cut computing unit 104 for setting a radial depth of cut such that the radial depth of cut in the computed machining cross-sectional areas becomes integral divisions of the radial maximum cutting width in the machining cross-sectional area; and an axial depth of cut computing unit 105 for changing a value of the axial depth of cut depending on the set radial depth of cut.
