PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent data holding devices which hold specific data or replicas from locally decreasing among a plurality of data holding devices connected through a network.

SOLUTION: A data holding device includes a holding part which holds data or a replica as a duplication thereof; a deletion part which deletes the data or replica according to priority of deletion of the data or replica, and sends notice, instructing a decrease in priority of deletion of data or replicas identical to the deleted data or replica to nearby data holding devices connected through the network when deleting the data or replica; and an update part which decreases the priority of deletion of the data or replica when holding the data or replica instructed with the notice to be decreased in priority of deletion on receiving the notice.
