The device has an arc tube (10) comprising a heating section in which a cross-linking of the material of the envelope of the electric cable takes place. A cooling section is arranged to follow the heating section. Several rollers are provided in the arc tube corresponding to the deflection angle of the envelope of the cable. The curved paths are arranged for forming the arc tube.
