<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an armature for a rotary electric machine that prevents upsizing of axial dimensions of coil ends that is attributable to irregular-shaped junctions. <P>SOLUTION: A wave wound coil set 9 is formed by joining respective second ends 82 of a pair of wave wound coils 8 that are arranged while being displaced from each other in a circumferential direction C. A projection 7, provided with the second end 82, of a first wave wound coil 8 of the pair of the wave wound coils 8 that constitute the wave wound coil set 9 is referred to as an irregular-shaped projection 72. With respect to the circumferential direction C, an extending direction of the irregular-shaped projection 72 is parallel to an extending direction of a second projection 7 of an irregular-shaped segment conductor 52. The irregular-shaped projection 72 has an offset region X that is offset to a side of a second radial direction R1 with respect to a normal projection 71 of a normal segment conductor 51 having a conductor side 31 arranged in a N-th layer.
