The invention relates to a rotary contactor for an automobile, comprising a mobile portion (7) configured to be rotatably connected to the steering wheel of the vehicle, a coaxial stationary portion (3) inside which the mobile portion (7) is housed, configured to be mounted on the steering column, a flexible electrical connection tape (15) wound between said mobile (7) and stationary (3) portions, counter to which said portions (3, 7) are rotatably mounted relative to one another, said tape (15) being attached by the ends thereof to the mobile portion (7) and to the stationary portion (3), a plurality of closed elastic bands (21) each having sections (29) for engaging with a first tooth (27a) arranged inside the fixed portion (3) and with a second tooth (27b) arranged on the outside of the mobile portion (7) in order to clamp said tape (15) against the inner surface (23) of the stationary portion (3) and the external surface (25) of the mobile portion (7), and a cover (31) arranged above the mobile portion (7). According to the invention, one (21a) of said closed elastic bands (21) is singled out, and said cover (31) is transparent so that said singled-out closed elastic band (21a) can be seen, and has markings (R) relating to the number of turns made by the mobile portion (7) and to the direction of rotation, and arranged such that when the mobile portion (7) turns, said singled-out closed band (21a) is substantially aligned with one of said markings (R) corresponding to the number of turns made by the mobile portion (7) and the direction of rotation. |
