Provided is a metal foil comprising a steel layer having a thickness of 10 to 200 µm, an alloy layer containing Fe and Al formed on the steel layer, and an Al-containing metal layer disposed on the alloy layer. When a cutting line on the surface of the Al-containing metal layer serves as a contour curve and a straight line approximating the contour curve serves as a contour average straight line, there is no a maximum point at which the distance from the contour average straight line to the contour curve exceeds 10 µm. The alloy layer has a thickness of 0.1 to 8 µm, and contains an Al7Cu2Fe intermetallic compound or an FeAl3-based intermetallic compound.
