This method for producing a solar cell has: a step for conferring a first n-type-diffusion-layer-forming composition containing a dispersing medium and a glass powder containing an n-type impurity to a partial region on one surface of a semiconductor substrate; a step for conferring a second n-type-diffusion-layer-forming composition containing a dispersing medium and a glass powder containing an n-type impurity, the concentration of the n-type impurity being lower than that of the first n-type-diffusion-layer-forming composition, to at least a region aside from the partial region on the surface to which the first n-type-diffusion-layer-forming composition was conferred of the semiconductor substrate; a step for forming an n-type diffusion layer by heat-treating the semiconductor substrate to which the first n-type-diffusion-layer-forming composition and the second n-type-diffusion-layer-forming composition have been conferred; and a step for forming an electrode on the partial region.
