<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charger that reduces the size and cost and has cleaning means able to maintain charging-roller cleaning performance over a long period of time, a process cartridge and an image forming apparatus with the charger. <P>SOLUTION: In a charger 14 having a charging roller 14a for charging an image carrier that forms an electrostatic latent image on its surface and the cleaning means for cleaning the charging roller 14a, the cleaning means includes: a charging cleaning roller 14b for cleaning the surface of the charging roller 14a in contact with it; and a support member supporting the charging cleaning roller 14b so that it is rotatable. A long hole 16 in the support member has a long-hole shape able to vary a distance between the charging roller 14a and the charging cleaning roller 14b. A straight line L2 parallel to the lengthwise direction of the long hole 16 is inclined toward the rotating direction of the charging roller 14a with respect to a straight line L1 connecting the center of the charging roller 14a and the center of the charging cleaning roller 14b. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
