摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent significant reduction in transmittance of a pixel even if the area of the pixel is small in a liquid crystal display device with a high-definition screen. <P>SOLUTION: A pixel electrode 106 is formed in a region surrounded by a gate line 101 and a drain line 104 and a trapezoidal protrusion 10 having an upper surface and an inclined surface is formed below the gate line 101. Since a TFT is formed on the trapezoidal protrusion 10 and a channel portion 1031 is formed over the upper surface and the inclined surface of the trapezoidal protrusion 10, the channel width can be enlarged compared to that of a channel portion formed on a plane. The pixel electrode 106 is in contact with a source electrode 105 at the inclined surface of the trapezoidal protrusion 10. According to this configuration, the transmittance of a pixel can be enhanced because the TFT and a contact of the pixel electrode and the source electrode 105 can be formed in a part of the trapezoidal protrusion 10. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
