PURPOSE: A traffic information providing system which uses properties of a vehicle group and a method thereof are provided to install a vehicle group detector on a road, thereby providing transfer time, exposure time, an amount, and a kind of information of a measured vehicle group to an electronic display board on the road. CONSTITUTION: A vehicle detector(100) is installed on a road. The vehicle detector detects information of a driving vehicle. An information providing apparatus(200) receives a vehicle information detection signal of the driving vehicle. The information providing apparatus distinguishes a vehicle group. The information providing apparatus provides vehicle group information to a driver. An information display part(300) displays information provided from the information providing apparatus.
