<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a positive electrode material for a battery high in capacity and capable of achieving rapid charge/discharge; a method for producing the positive electrode material; and a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery. <P>SOLUTION: In a calcium ion secondary battery using calcium ions as an ion conductive medium, a composite obtained by compositing manganese oxide having a tunnel structure with a carbon material is used as a composite positive electrode material 11.
