The method involves bring together a sample of a material of a workpiece, a soldering aid and fluid in a fluid container (101) i.e. stainless steel container, to enable an interaction between the fluid, the soldering aid and the sample of the material. The composition of the sample is temporally determined, and the interaction between the fluid, the soldering aid and the sample of the material is determined by comparing the determined composition of the sample with original composition of the sample. The temperature of the sample, temperature and/or pressure of the fluid are adjusted. An independent claim is also included for a device for checking an interaction between fluid and a soldering aid.
