Metal-containing organic compounds suitable for use as waterproofing agents

Novel compounds which are soluble in organic solvents are obtained by heating an acid halide having a hydrocarbon chain containing 14-22 carbon atoms with a metal alcoholate in which the metal belongs to Group III or IV of the Periodic Table at a temperature of at least 140 DEG C. The compounds have use as waterproofing agents.ALSO:Waterproofing agents for use in the textile and leather industries are prepared by reacting an acid halide having a hydrocarbon radical containing 14-22 carbon atoms with a metal alcoholate in which the metal belongs to group III or IV of the Periodic Table at a temperature of at least 140 DEG C. The products are soluble in organic solvents such as those used in the dry cleaning industry.
