An encapsulation assembly for a composite solar collection module consisting (100) of: a substrate (10) that is transparent to solar rays, said substrate (10) having a substrate perimeter edge; a thin film solar collection cell (20) disposed adjacent said substrate (10) for the collection of solar rays transmitted through said substrate (10), said thin film solar collection cell (20) having a cell perimeter edge; an electrically insulating film (70) applied on top of said thin film solar collection cell (20) having an insulating perimeter edge; and a metallic layer (80) put directly onto said insulating film (70) opposite said thin film solar collection cell (20) and having a metallic perimeter edge; said metallic perimeter edge being recessed inward from said substrate perimeter edge, said metallic layer (80) being at least coextensive with said thin film solar collection cell (20); and a mechanical protection layer (40) disposed over said metallic layer (80) opposite said insulating film (70), said mechanical protection layer (40) being coextensive with said substrate (10). |
