The sewing machine comprises: a needle bar(7) having a needle(8) which is vertically operated between dead points of the lower and upper portions; a griping device(10) for picking the upper thread; a thread holding device(18) for pulling the loop of the upper thread; and an upper thread fixing unit(14).
