<p>PURPOSE: A double-sided cutting insert is provided to implement shoulder milling of 90°to a cutting depth over the length of the cutting insert by preventing a non-operative second cutting edge from protruding than an operative first cutting edge in the radial direction of a milling cutter and maintaining a gap from an object to be cut. CONSTITUTION: A double-sided cutting insert(1) comprises a pair of end faces(10), a pair of first lateral faces(30), and a pair of second lateral faces. The first and second lateral faces, facing each other, connect the end faces. First and second cutting edges(100,200) are formed by the intersection of the first and second lateral faces. The second cutting edge is offset toward a first middle face further than the first cutting edge and inclined toward the first middle face as getting far from the corner of the cutting insert. The first cutting edge is offset toward a second middle face further than the second cutting edge and inclined toward the second middle face as getting far from the corner of the cutting insert.</p> |
