What is described is an optical transition box for housing the connection between a riser cable and a drop cable of an optical access network. The box comprises a base, in turn comprising: a bottom for housing the excess lengths of the optical fibers of the riser cable and of the drop cable, a sidewall and a splice-holder element for housing the splices between the optical fibers. The splice-holder element is fixed to the sidewall and overhangs above the bottom. A distance not lower than the diameter of an optical fiber is provided between the bottom and the splice-holder element.
