<p>958,690. Piezo-electric elements. WESTERN ELECTRIC CO. Inc. April 7, 1961 [April 13, 1960], No. 12515/61. Drawings to Specification. Heading H1E. [Also in Division H3] A piezo-electric device comprises a single crystal of cadmium sulphide, or a slice thereof, having a maximum room temperature conductivity of 10<SP>-8</SP> ohm<SP>-1</SP> cm.<SP>-1</SP>. It is stated that crystals may be made by any of the usual methods and that it is not difficult to obtain the required conductivity. The N-type conductivity of the substance, when too high, may be compensated by e.g. heating in sulphur vapour and diffusing copper into the crystal from a surface coating. The Specification describes piezoelectric devices identical to those described in Specification 959,293.</p> |
