<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve cost reduction in a projection type video display device using a light-emitting diode as a light source. <P>SOLUTION: The projection type video display device comprises a blue light-emitting diode 1B or a near-ultraviolet light-emitting diode, and a reflecting mirror 7 in the opposite position.
