The plant (1) has a process steam consumer (3) comprising a heat exchanger (4), and a steam turbine unit (2) connected to the heat exchanger by an extraction steam line (5). A desuperheater (6) is connected to a primary side of the extraction steam line, and a water-steam loop (7) is provided with a main condensate line (8) and a return condensate line (13). A medium-pressure turbine (9) and a low pressure turbine (10) are connected with each other through multiple overflow lines (11). The process steam consumer is designed as a device for removing carbon dioxide from flue gas. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a steam power plant.
