A system and associated method for monitoring at least two utility resources such as electricity, gas supplies or the like. The system comprises an input interface into which a data set associated with at least one aspect of the two or more utility resources plus a predetermined threshold criteria associated with the aspect of the at least two utility resources is provided. The monitoring apparatus as well as monitoring the consumption of the at least two utility resources, also provides a monitor output indicative of the monitored consumption. A processor uses the data set, the predetermined threshold criteria and the monitor output to generate a processor output that determines whether a predetermined threshold criteria is exceeded. When a predetermined threshold is exceeded, an alert mechanism sets an output to operate an alert signal. A data set and predetermined threshold criteria may be provided for each of the at least two utilities or may be provided for a collective level of the at least two utilities. The alert mechanism may include a transmitter to transmit a signal to at least one remote interface. |
