PURPOSE: Device and method of controlling a rice cooker according to the sensing of the opening/closing of a door are provided to prevent fire accident and burn and minimize the impact of failure of rice cooking by indicating the opening/closing state of a door and outputting a user alarm. CONSTITUTION: A device for controlling a rice cooker according to the sensing of the opening/closing of a door consists of CPU(112), a display(113), an alarm generating unit(116) and a key operating unit(114). The CPU senses the opening of the door input from a door sensor. The CPU counts time supplied from a counter, indicates opening hour and outputs alarm to a user. The display indicates the current state of a rice cooker and the opening hour of the door under the control by the CPU. The alarm generating unit drives a speaker and generates alarm under the control by the CUP. The key operating unit controls the operation of the rice cooker by the CPU.
