PURPOSE: A method for manufacturing fermented oriental medicinal materials and a composition containing the fermented oriental medicinal materials are provided to enhance memory. CONSTITUTION: A method for manufacturing fermented oriental medicinal materials by semi-solid fermentation comprises: a step of mixing Polygalae Radix, Acori graminei Rhizoma or Wolfiporia cocos with distilled water and inoculating with spawn; a step of fermenting inoculated material; a step of heating the fermented material and centrifuging; and a step of freeze-drying supernatant. The spawn is A. oryzae or S. cerevisiae. A composition for enhancing memory contains the fermented oriental medicinal materials as an active ingredient.
