The present invention relates to a centrifugal pump for pumping a fluid, said centrifu gal pump comprising at least a casing in which an impeller is fitted, said impeller hav- ing a back side facing a back plate of said casing, leaving a gap between said back side and said back plate, on said back side of said impeller, means for scraping depos ited material of said fluid from the back plate are arranged, further the impeller has a front side fitted with one or more vanes for pumping said fluid, and even further said centrifugal pump has means extending from the impeller and through said back plate for connection to a drive mechanism for rotating said impeller. The centrifugal pump according to the invention is characterised in, that the back side of the impeller is tit ted with segmented scraper means comprising multiple protrusions, where each pro trusion is facing said back plate and constitutes a scraper unit, where the added radial extension of said protrusions equals the radius of the impeller within the interval of + 10%, + 25% or even up to + 40%. |
