FIELD: oil and gas production. ^ SUBSTANCE: there performed is vertical seismic lateral exploration of productive formations. The thickness of productive formation is analysed in operating wells. According to the data of productive formation thickness in wells and vertical seismic lateral exploration there marked are domal upwarpings of productive formation. There marked are upwarpings the length of which is not less than three times exceeds the width. The thickness of marked upwarpings is analysed. In case of productive formation thickness between upwarpings that is more than the average formation thickness by not less than 25% there made is a conclusion about channel oil pool. Formation outline is defined. ^ EFFECT: increase of channel oil pool determination accuracy. ^ 1 dwg
