The present invention relates to a method for detoxifying castor bean residue and to the detoxified castor bean residue. The detoxification method comprises the following steps: preparing an alkaline solution, adding castor bean residue, with a minimum ratio between the volume of the alkaline solution and that of the castor bean residue mass, stirring the mixture until it is completely homogenised, letting the mixture rest for 24h with periodic stirring and, optionally, drying same.
