<p>Provided are a biometric authentication unit and automatic transaction processing device which suppress the occurrence of failures in biometric authentication as much as possible, for which the number of times for biometric authentication to be repeated is reduced even in case of failure, and which does not cause distrust to be directed thereto by a person to be authenticated. For a customer who is not used to biometric authentication, guidance for a suitable setting method for a biological body before starting of authentication is displayed. Then, if a predetermined assessment value for a degree of match is not reached upon performing of authentication processing, the possibility that the finger may not have been registered is warned, and checking for finger contamination/a bandaging/keratinization/movement is requested. In addition, when estimated factors for placement/location resulting in insufficient degree of match and an improvement plan are displayed so that the customer takes action for improvement, a block diagram is displayed in real-time for improvement indicating the portion for which there is a bad degree of match so as to facilitate confirmation of the results of improvement of the customer. Upon success of biometric authentication, the improvement history of the placement/location of the finger is stored into an IC card so that, by displaying thereof at the start of biometric authentication at the time of the next transaction, authentication failure is prevented.</p> |
