A liquid crystal display panel (10) is provided with a first substrate (20) and a second substrate (40) which face one another, a liquid crystal layer (50) formed between the pair of substrates, and a sealing section (60) disposed so as to encircle the liquid crystal layer, wherein an insulating film is formed on the surface of the first substrate facing the liquid crystal layer, and the insulating film has a laminate structure containing at least an organic insulating film (33) and an inorganic insulating film (38) disposed on the organic insulating film. An inorganic insulating film non-formation section (35), on which an inorganic insulating film is not formed, is disposed on the section encircling the liquid crystal layer on the peripheral edge of the insulating film. The entire surface of the sealing section facing the first substrate is disposed on the inorganic insulating film non-formation section and is bonded to the organic insulating film.
