ELECTROPHYSIOLOGY CATHETERS HAVING A LOOP PORTION AND METHODS OF MANUFACTURING THEREFOR

An electrophysiology (EP) catheter (10, 110) has a longitudinal axis (A) and includes a catheter body (12) having a proximal region (14); a neck region (18), and a distal portion (16, 116). In an embodiment, the distal portion (16) is predisposed into a loop consisting of a single, helical revolution when in a non-compressed state. An axis (a) of the single, helical revolution is offset from the longitudinal axis (A). In another embodiment, the distal portion (116) is predisposed into a plurality of loops comprising at least a first loop and a second loop when in a non-compressed state, wherein a majority of the first loop and a majority of the second loop is disposed within a common plane that is substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis (A). The EP catheter (10, 110) further includes a plurality of electrodes (20) coupled to the distal portion (16, 116).
