The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a phase contrast film, and more specifically, to a method for manufacturing a phase contrast film including the steps of: applying a coating-layer-forming composition on one surface of a transparent base, and forming a first optical anisotropic coating layer and a second optical anisotropic coating layer; and optimizing the refractive indices and the thicknesses of the first and second optical anisotropic coating layers, so as to be able to uniformly achieve the same optical characteristics as that of a single layer phase contrast film having an actual refractive index of nx>nz>ny, and enable a surface-switching mode liquid crystal display device, to which the phase contrast film is applied, to have an improved side contrast ratio and minimized color shift so as to form a clear screen. |
