The invention relates to a device for strengthening a shell (6) of a solar updraft chimney, comprising at least one spoke ring (1) having a hub (3) and spokes (2) that act upon the hub (3) such as to ensure tensile strength, wherein the spokes can be supported on a reinforced annular section (5) of the shell (6) of the solar updraft chimney. The device further comprises a frame of a lifting gear (7) provided on the shell (6) upstream of the reinforced annular section (5), said lifting gear having traction ropes which are guided over deflection pulleys (17, 18) and act upon the spokes (2) via respective stop devices (9). In order to ensure advantageous mounting conditions, the stop devices (9) comprise two stop ropes (10, 11) each, one of which acts upon a support hub (12) for a vertically adjustable hub holder (13) which support hub is arranged upstream of the hub (3) of the spoke ring (1) and the other stop rope acts upon the side of the essentially deflection-resistant spokes (2) opposite the hub (3). The spokes (2) can be hinged to tension rods (4) which extend through the reinforced annular section (5) of the shell (6). |
