The present invention discloses a method and a terminal for feeding back channel state information. The method includes that: a user equipment (UE) sets multiple Rank Indication (RI) groups; the UE determines an RI; when the RI is updated or the RI group of the RI changes relative to the RI group of the RI fed back last time, the UE reports a feedback report carrying a Precoder Type Indication (PTI) value which is zero, and feeds back channel state information according to the PTI which is zero. Thus, the feedback accuracy rate of channel state information is increased and the system performance loss is reduced.
