The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating rheumatoid arthritis comprising a phospholipase D1 inhibitor as an active ingredient. The phospholipase D1 inhibitor of the present invention exhibits the effect of markedly improving the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis by suppressing inflammation at joints through suppression of articular cartilage destruction, suppression of bone destruction and suppression of the production of inflammatory cytokines (TNF-a, IL-1ß, IL-6, IFN-?, MCP-1 and IL-17); while the composition of the present invention, which comprises the phospholipase D1 inhibitor that has these characteristics as an active ingredient, can be used to advantage in the prevention or treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.
