DOUBLE WALL BARRIER PAPERBOARD CONTAINERS

A double wall paperboard container (100) is disclosed that includes: a container body (102) with a first sealing structure (160) on an upper end portion (110) and a second sealing structure (162) on a lower end portion (112); a lid (104) sealingly connected to the first sealing structure; and a bottom (106) sealingly connected to the second sealing structure. The container body includes: an inner wall (116) having a first edge and a second edge and an outer wall (118) having a first edge and a second edge, wherein the first edge of the inner wall is connected to the first edge of the outer wall along a longitudinal fold (146). The inner and outer walls extend about a longitudinal axis such that the second edges of the inner and outer walls overlap the longitudinal fold to form a longitudinal seam (152). The double wall structure may provide enhanced strength and gas barrier performance to the paperboard container.
