A skid control and traction device comprising a double open-ended hollow box for operative disposal above each driving wheel of the vehicle, said box being structured and arranged to hold a supply of traction material therein; a spring-loaded lid at an upper open end of said box; a generally-cylindrical, transversely-oriented hollow outlet conduit at a lower end of said box; a cylindrical dispensing member rotatably mounted within said generally-cylindrical, transversely-oriented hollow outlet conduit, said cylindrical dispensing member either being provided with a series of rows of grinding teeth or being in the form of a screw feeder; and a downwardly-directed discharge chute at the lower end of said generally-cylindrical, transversely-oriented hollow outlet conduit.
