<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for allowing a user to individually set reproduction of masker sound according to the need for masking. <P>SOLUTION: A masking device is a portable masking device which can be carried by a user by hand and stores masker sound data showing content of masker sound. When the user conducts the operation of instructing to the masking device to perform reproduction in the case of necessity of masking, the masking device reads masker sound data and starts reproduction of masker sound data.
