<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the resolution of a stereoscopic image compared to conventional one. <P>SOLUTION: As a combined shape of sub-pixels composing one pixel, a first and second combined shapes in which vertical directions are opposite to one another are used when each viewpoint image is displayed. A display is provided such that a first pixel arrangement pattern using the first combined shape and a second pixel arrangement pattern using the second combined shape are alternately shown in a vertical direction. For example, one pixel by the first pixel arrangement pattern is composed of the combination of two sub-pixels on the n-th horizontal pixel line and one sub-pixel on the (n+1)-th horizontal pixel line.
