<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparing wood, and a composition. <P>SOLUTION: The method for treating wood comprises a step in which the wood comes in contact with a mixture of liquid or water-soluble organic ammonium carbonate with an active component for inducing an invertebrate to evade. The organic ammonium carbonate is shown by formula (1): [NR<SP POS="POST">1</SP>R<SP POS="POST">2</SP>R<SP POS="POST">3</SP>R<SP POS="POST">4</SP>]<SP POS="POST">+</SP><SB POS="POST">n</SB>[R<SP POS="POST">5</SP>(COO)<SB POS="POST">n</SB>]<SP POS="POST">-n</SP>(wherein R<SP POS="POST">1</SP>, R<SP POS="POST">2</SP>, R<SP POS="POST">3</SP>, R<SP POS="POST">4</SP>, R<SP POS="POST">5</SP>and n are in the description). The active component for preventing wood from going rotten contains a chelating agent for inducing the invertebrate to evade.
