<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly control engine start and gear-shifting in a coast state. <P>SOLUTION: A vehicle travel control device includes: an engine and a motor being a drive source; a transmission for transmitting drive force from the drive source to a wheel with different gear ratios; an engine start control means controlling engine start; a gear shift control means controlling the gear-shifting of the transmission; and a start determination means for determining whether an engine start request and a gear shift request of the transmission are generated when an own-vehicle travels using only the motor as the drive source and in the coast state. When the start control means determines that the engine start request and the gear shift request of the transmission are generated when the own-vehicle travels using only the motor as the drive source and in the coast state, the engine start control means inhibits starting the engine until the gear shift control means finishes the shift from the current gear position to a target gear position, and then allows the engine to be started after the completion of the shift. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
