<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for cellular manufacturing to balance workload across multiple cells in a cellular manufacturing environment. <P>SOLUTION: The cellular manufacturing method in which multiple jobs are manufactured by at least a part of multiple cells, and each of the cell includes at least one production device, comprises: compiling a list of a plurality of jobs and cells using a computer operable processor; auto-splitting the jobs into smaller sized lots using a split-then-merge operation in order to adapt the lot that are no more fine grained than necessary to cell workloads to balance workload across multiple cells in a cellular manufacturing environment. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
